Rira Ga Chittemo: リラが散っても

When I first heard this song, I instantly thought of Ruirin. The song, the melody---everything fits so well with the nature behind Ruirin Fae and her story. Uplifting, nostalgic, yet melancholy at times. Every time I listen, I can picture my favorite girl growing up to be such a loving character.

Purple lilacs, by the way, symbolizes first love.

I wanted to draw something that focused on the setting, and not the character. However, if you look carefully, you can see Ruirin.
This scenery is of Ruirin's home and where she first met Rai (tbc in storybook...). In the spring, the area around her house blossoms with purple lilacs.

Influenced by Makoto Shinkai's beautiful landscapes, but no references were used.


Time taken: 2.5 hours.

P.S. I'm out of my art block. Rurutia has inspired me again with her beautiful music and lyrics. ^^

man, I wish I could do scenery like you do! This picture is so breath-taking! You get the imagery without even looking at the words. It's like there's a little spot of life peeking through and forcing itself to continue.
